Innovation
Finally,
more than innovative technology… the formulation of Weafri Gelly Pig.
Exactly
fine tuned to customers specification. A 100% success story to date.
“Do not have pigs and debris kept stuck in the
pipeline,
Get
Weafri gelly pig to shove them out.”
Weafri gel is elastic and forms a cohesive mass
that does not break easily, hence it is able to sustain consistent pressures and
push on objects in pipelines. It is highly viscous and partially fluid in nature
and can flow on in pipeline, pick up, suspend and carry every debris it
encounters.
Engineered to Customer’s Specifications
The
composition of the constituent additives has been carefully engineered to
pipeline conditions by our team of engineers. The gel is self-lubricating and so
rolls on easily in the pipeline with minimal friction, thereby remaining intact
without disintegrating until the job is completed.
Weafri gel is mixed and pumped right on site by our
gel system engineers and chemical pump operators. The required chemicals are
customized to mix at such a point and rate that ensures that just 1 minute in
the pipeline, Weafri gel is already pushing and picking. Rolling and pushing on,
it picks up and carry along every debris in the pipeline.
This process ensures that the customer gets a
perfectly cleaned out pipeline operating at optimal delivery rate.
Weafri
gel has been evolved to adapt to the sometimes-unpredictable Niger Delta where
host communities violence are prevalent. Where the manifold is shut down during
gel launch, the uncross-linked gel in the gel blender, and the cross-linked gel
in the pipeline is chemically engineered to maintain good quality even after
several days. Hence, after up to a week of unexpected shut-down, operations can
still proceed without material losses.
A
typical Weafri Gel Pig train may consist of hundreds or thousands of feet of
gel, used in conjunction with foam pigs of various densities and some chemicals
to dewax, descale and passivate the system after operation.
Applications
Retrieval of stuck mechanical pig
Cleaning and drying of pipelines
Dewatering
Pipeline displacement
Purging
Product Separation
Corrosion inhibitor and biocide treatment
Clean up before intelligent pigging
Case
Study
An
operational 16” trunkline was last pigged in 1995 with 16” TDW brush pig
which is yet to be recovered. The statutory required IP survey using Tuboscope
Standard Resolution Tool in 1996 was not carried out. Another IP due in 2000 was
not carried out.
The
routine of the pipeline was suspended due to the stuck pig. Thick wax, scale and
debris accumulated. The production rate of
the
pipeline kept on declining. It was at this point that Weafri Pipeline Services
was called in to clear the line. Weafri
moved in and by the time of coming out recorded a verifiable 100% success story,
which still stands. Today, the trunkline operates at its optimal rate.
On
Line Oil Gel System
Weafri
Oil Gel technology has been developed by our research team as an on-line system,
which can be applied directly into a producing trunkline. Hence, debris can now
be flushed out without shutting down flow-stations. At the receiving end, the
gel is separated from the oil and degraded while the crude is re-injected into
the trunk-line
